Golfers head to Tenn.

The Lady Bulldogs travel to
Knoxville, Tenn., this weekend to
play against the collegiate elite in
the inaugural Mercedes-Benz
Collegiate, a 54-hole tournament.

Of the 18-team field, the
nation’s top seven, according to
the Golfweek poll, will compete
among nine other nationally
ranked squads at the Gettysvue
Polo, Golf and Country Club.

No. 7 Georgia will be joined by
seven other Southeastern
Conference teams: No. 3
Tennessee, No. 6 Florida, No. 14
Louisiana State, No. 16 Auburn,
No. 23 Alabama, No.27 Kentucky
and South Carolina.

As for its counterparts, the
14th-ranked men’s golf team will
also play in Knoxville a week later
on Monday and Tuesday in the
10th Annual Tennessee
Tournament of Champions at
Holston Hills Country Club. The
15-team field includes many of the
East Region’s powerhouses,
including eight SEC squads, five
of which are ranked: No. 9
Auburn, No. 16 Mississippi State,
No. 21 South Carolina, No. 26
LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss and
Tennessee.

The probable traveling team
for the 54-hole event features
Jeremy Parrott, Mark Northey,
David Miller, Michael Morrison
and Justin Bolli, said head coach
Chris Haack. Sophomore transfer
Morrison has the inside track at
the Holston Hills Country Club,
having played there numerous
times while at Tennessee.
