WORST OF SATURDAY

By on November 18, 2002

Worst way to gain momentum: Georgia looked confused during the first quarter of Saturday’s game against Auburn. That wasn’t more evident than when Auburn had a third-and-one from its own 47-yard line in the first quarter. Junior free safety Kentrell Curry bit on a fake by Tigers quarterback Jason Campbell even though running back Ronnie Brown had the ball. Brown eventually galloped 53 yards through the middle of the Bulldogs defense to the end zone for Auburn’s first touchdown.

Worst way to make the final score easy on yourself: With Georgia trailing 21-17 with less than two minutes to play in the game, the Bulldogs had a first down at the Tigers 14-yard line. Georgia had no timeouts left and before the second play, it was flagged for a false start. The Bulldogs then had first-and-15 from the Tigers 19-yard line. Two incomplete passes later, the Bulldogs had fourth-and-15. Georgia then scored the go-ahead points after four gut-wrenching plays.

Worst first half performance: Georgia came out Saturday against Auburn and played its worst first half of the year. The Bulldogs had just 63 yards of total offense on 27 plays in the first half. The previous worst performance was against Clemson in the opening game of the year when the Bulldogs had 90 yards of offense on 30 plays.
