Comedy comes to the Classic City

By on April 23, 2003

Four heads are better than one — at least that’s what local comedy group The Fourheads hope the audience will think after seeing their show tonight.

All four of The Fourheads have been performing stand-up for at least a year but only started to perform together recently, said group member Micah Sherman.

Not only is The Fourheads a union of several of Athens’ most experienced comedians, but Sherman said it’s some of the best comedy to be found in the Classic City.

“There’s not a whole lot of comedy in Athens,” he said, “and this is high quality comedy.”

Sherman’s not just being cocky, either.

The Fourheads — comprised of comics Sherman, Mia Jackson, Alex Gardener and Buddah (pronounced like butter without the R) — are all well-known around Athens as up-and-coming acts.

Sherman said he is the only University student in the group, and the other three members are just out there working to become professional comedians.

Even Sherman, the junior member of the group by his own admission, boasts credentials any comic would be proud of.

In addition to being a member of several stand-up troupes in the past, he’s done solo shows.

He even scored an opening gig for humorist Mitch Hedberg.

The Fourheads will perform tonight at 9:30 at Element. Tickets are $3 at the door.
