Meow! Cat fight in Baton Rouge
See Mountaineers win.
See Mountaineers celebrate.
See Mountaineers try to climb goal posts, which you would think Mountaineers would be good at.
I guess catching pepper spray in the grill would probably deter even the best of Mountaineers.
This is what college football is all about. The pageantry, the color, the upsets and the race for the BCS. We’ve seen it all this week already, and it’s not even Saturday.
Record: 25-17
Against the Line: 21-21
Last week: 2-3, 3-2
(Lines come from the AJC)
Alabama-Birmingham @ No. 4 Georgia (by 29 1/2) — 1 p.m.:
Well, it’s Homecoming in Athens, if that means anything.
There’s not really a whole lot of excitement around this one, except the fact that No. 3 Virginia Tech got beat. A win would likely move the Bulldogs up in the BCS, and that’s enough for Georgia fans to get extra excited.
Georgia 38, UAB 9
No. 17 Auburn @ No. 9 LSU (by 3 1/2) — 7:45 p.m., ESPN:
You know how much I love a good cat fight. Who doesn’t? Meow.
The East Alabama Tigers are rolling (they’re so hot right now), having won their last five games, including wins over Arkansas and Tennessee.
The Bayou Tigers got mad after being Gator-bitten, and they whipped up on Sweet Lou’s Gamecocks last week. Shame on them.
The Cadillac has a full head of steam heading into Baton Rouge, but it’s Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. And crazy things seem to happen when it’s Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.
LSU 24, Auburn 23.
No. 21 Arkansas @ Ole Miss (by 1) — 7:15 p.m., ESPN2:
If the Rebels win, it will be the first time since 1970 they will be 4-0 in the SEC (insert Manning family connection here).
The Hogs are surely a little ticked off after dropping two straight at home, but Cedric Cobbs’ status is uncertain, and everyone knows Cobbs is Arkansas.
Ole Miss has been throwing it around a little, which they’ll continue Saturday.
Ole Miss 26, Arkansas 19.
No. 10 Purdue @ No. 13 Michigan (by 5) — 3:30 p.m., ABC:
The Wolverines got things back on track last week with a 56-14 win over Illinois. Granted, Illinois is terrible, but it was still a big win, which is what Michigan needed.
The only thing Purdue has done, besides losing to Bowling Green, was beating Wisconsin last week in Madison. They’ll be tired and won’t be ready for the Big House.
Michigan 27, Purdue 14.
No. 12 Northern Illinois @ No. 23 Bowling Green (by 3 1/2) — 4 p.m., ESPN2:
Who cares? Not the BCS, but what the heck.
Bowling Green 6, N. Illinois 2.
