Tigers look for redemption on Gators’ turf
The Bayou Bengals have a good opportunity this Saturday to rebound from last week’s crippling loss to Georgia.
The 3-2 LSU Tigers travel to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to take on the 3-1 Florida Gators in an important SEC battle for both teams.
For LSU, the match up against the Gators will be an opportunity to prove that they have learned vital lessons from their experience in Sanford Stadium.
“On offense and defense I just think poise and execution were probably as big a problem as anything,” LSU head coach Nick Saban said at his weekly press luncheon.
The Tigers experienced a complete meltdown last Saturday, giving up big plays on defense and turning the ball over three times on offense.
“(This Saturday) is an opportunity for our team to prove that we have a better football team than what we showed this past Saturday,” Saban said. “Hopefully, we’ll respond the right way to it and improve and get better.”
Florida is preparing for a Tiger team that is ready to get back into winning fashion.

“Getting beaten by Georgia last week just makes them more dangerous,” Florida’s center Mike Degory said. “They really have nothing to lose now.”
Florida head coach Ron Zook still sees LSU as a major threat.
“They’re the defending national champions; there’s no question they are very talented,” Zook said. “We will get their best effort.”
LSU will be bringing the No. 2 rushing defense in the SEC and a secondary loaded with talent to Gainesville.
The Tigers have only allowed an average of 106 yards on the ground. Cornerback Corey Webster and defensive back Marcus Spears lead a defense that outranks Florida’s in every category.
LSU’s defense, however, will be up against the most potent offensive attacks in the SEC.
Florida quarterback Chris Leak leads the SEC in passing yards per game, and running back Ciatrick Fason leads the conference in rushing yards, all purpose yards and scoring.
“Fason has certainly proven that he is one of the premier players in this league,” Saban said. “He has big play ability and an ability to run.”
Zook only expects his quarterback to get better as the season progresses.
“He has gotten better this year and there is no doubt in my mind he will be better next year,” Zook said.
Saban said he hopes his young lineup will be able to bounce back and get a win on the road.
“We have a much younger team than people realize and some of these difficult situations have shown our maturity to handle things,” he said.
