Rehab to debut new album, ‘Graffiti the World,’ Friday
Rehab will release more than just musical energy this Friday.
The Atlanta-based band that made a name for itself with the 1999 album “Southern Discomfort,” will hold a CD release party for “Graffiti the World” Friday at the Georgia Theatre.
The band’s unique sound makes it difficult for stores to classify its music. It’s a drum, guitar and bass mix of alternative rock with hip-hop influence.
“If you go to the store, they have us everywhere,” said lead singer, Danny Boone. “As long as people like it, I don’t care where they put us.”
Boone said there was probably a lot more negative energy on the first album.

“(‘Graffiti the World’) has more live instrumentation and a little less nervous energy,” Boone said.
“It’s more thought out. We tried to be a little more responsible.”
Producer Billy Hume, mix engineer for Bone Crusher, Lil Jon and the Ying Yang Twins, donated his expertise to the making of the album. Mix engineer Phil Tan, who has worked with the Neptunes, Snoop Dogg, 112 and Mariah Carey, helped with additional production.
From Charleston, S.C., and Chattanooga, Tenn., to The 40 Watt and The Ritz, the band has played venues all over the South, Boone said.
“Athens is always good because people like live music here,” he said. “People are everywhere going in and out of clubs. It’s good for exposure.”
“Last Tattoo,” a song from the new album, is even played on mainstream radio.
“Graffiti the World” is available in stores like Best Buy and Circuit City. The album also may be purchased online at (www.athensmusic.net).
Because the band is independent, Rehab asks that fans purchase the CD and not burn it.
Tickets for the upcoming show are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Doors open at 9 p.m.
Advance tickets may be purchased at (www.athensmusic.net) and (www.georgiatheatre.com) or in Athens at Schoolkids Records and Junkman’s Daughter’s Brother.
