Crude humor troupe still true to its roots

If you took the witty sketch comedy of “Kids In The Hall,” the crass vulgarity and offensiveness of “South Park,” the absurdity of “Mad TV,” the man-on-the-street pranks of “Trigger Happy TV” and mixed them all together, you probably would end up with something similar to “The Damn! Show.” Athens’ own homegrown troupe of no-holds-barred comedians have gained recognition lately for their MTV2 series, “Stankervision.”
“We started off in the dorms,” said Greg Epps, a “Damn! Show” member. “We’re all Athens boys, so our humor isn’t very far off from what people like today.”
What began as a local sketch comedy show has blown up into a professionally produced series for MTV2 called “Stankervision,” and because of the show’s success, Waco O’Guin, co-founder of “The Damn! Show”, said their Sept. 29 show at the Georgia Theatre may be their last at the venue for a while. As such, he’s making it a special one by showing uncensored, unedited footage that MTV2 would not run.
“If you like South Park and that kind of crude humor, you’d like our stuff,” O’Guin said. “Anything goes.”
Epps describes the group as “equal opportunity offenders.”

Rosie Siman, a sophomore from Nashville said she thinks the show is hilarious. “The only downside is that it might be too offensive for some, but that’s what makes it funny,” Siman said.
People try and be so politically correct about everything, and here’s this show that just doesn’t care.”
For those who have not been to a “Damn! Show” performance or seen “Stankervision” on MTV2, O’Guin describes the act as “more of a variety show” because it includes animation, pranks and man-on-the-street humor in addition to sketch comedy.
