“16 Blocks” (Action)

Starring: Bruce Willis (1999′s “The Sixth Sense”) and Mos Def (2003′s “The Italian Job”)

Jack Mosley (Willis) is tired of being a police detective. When he is assigned a simple task of taking witness Eddie Bunker (Def) to testify in court 16 blocks away, he thinks little of it. Problems arise when men try to get rid of Bunker before he testifies, leaving Mosley his only defense. The film is directed by Richard Donner of the action classic “Lethal Weapon” series.

 

“Block Party” (Comedy)

Starring: Dave Chappelle (TV’s “Chappelle’s Show”)

Combining music and his unique comedy sketches and dialogues, Chappelle gives a Brooklyn neighborhood a free block party. Guests in the film include Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Kanye West and Mos Def, to name a few. Chappelle made the film with his own money.

 

“Ultraviolet” (Action/Sci-fi)

Starring: Milla Jovovich (2002′s “Resident Evil”) and Cameron Bright (2004′s “Birth”)

Hemophages – a genetically modified subculture of humans – begin to scare the government with their advanced skills and abilities. The government is planning to destroy the Hemophage population because they feel threatened, but Violet (Jovovich) is fighting against it. To her surprise, the possible end to her life rests in a nine-year-old boy named Six (Bright).

 

“Aquamarine” (Comedy)

Starring: Emma Roberts (2001′s “Blow”) and Sara Paxton (TV’s “Summerland”)

Two best friends Claire (Roberts) and Hailey (singer JoJo) are saddened by the summer’s end and their upcoming separation. Then they find a mermaid in their nearby pool named Aquamarine (Paxton), who entertains them with her crush on a human boy and her confusion to the world around her. Emma Roberts is superstar Julia Roberts’s niece. Jessica Simpson was originally offered the role of Aquamarine.
