DVD releases present myriad of film genres
Check out these DVD releases today:
“Babel,” directed by Alejandro Gonzáles I�ár�tu, follows the path of four connected stories involving an American couple in Morocco (Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt), two Moroccan boys, a Mexican woman with American children and a Japanese family.
“Flushed Away,” an animated story directed by David Bowers and Sam Fell, tells the tale of a city rat, Roddy (Hugh Jackman), who is flushed down the toilet and ends up in the sewers of London. Kate Winslet and Ian McKellen also lend their voices to this animated feature.
Barbara Kopple and Cecilia Peck direct in “Dixie Chicks: Shut up and Sing,” the documentary of the events that followed lead singer Natalie Maines’ comment about President Bush at a 2003 concert.
Robin Williams plays Tom Dobbs, a late night talk show host and comedian who runs for president on a lark and wins in “Man of the Year,” directed by Barry Levinson.
Christopher Nolan directs in “The Prestige,” which stars Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman as magicians who were once friends, but become fierce rivals as they venture to complete the perfect trick.
