Intelligent Design a revolution

In response to Nick and Todd’s criticism of my letter, Nick and Todd would do well to remember that truth is not decided by majority opinion, even of scientists. The fact is an increasing number of scientists are willing to voice their dissent over the theory of evolution.

I realize that the numbers are currently vastly in favor of evolution, but it is always at the beginning of a scientific revolution. That is what we are seeing.

There is no link between materialism and empiricism, as Nick would have us believe – one can be completely scientific and still accept the supernatural as an explanation, if that is what the evidence supports.

There is no evidence that life could originate spontaneously and no logical reason to believe it did unless you reject Intelligent Design before you even look at the facts.

This is what most evolutionists today are doing, and it’s anything but good science.

American troops ensure our rights

“Bring our troops home now!” exclaimed one of the signs flaunted at the [Feb. 22] walk.

Do you not think people were distressed during the Revolutionary War? The Civil War? WWI or II?

Of course they were.

No one likes war, that’s a fact.

The United States did not ask to be dragged into this global war on Islamic terrorism, nor was the United States going to be pushed around.

There certainly are points that must be debated regarding strategy and effort. However, no one can deny that immediate pullout signifies failure and defeat. Without our troops’ sacrificing of their lives (some from the University), groups like the protesters would not have the right to open their mouths, much less hold up a sign.

Support the troops, support America and stop giving motivation to terrorists to keep striving just a little harder – it could be costing lives.

Tate preachers disturbing peace

Anyone else encounter the religious zealot and his musical counterpart at Tate Plaza on Feb. 22?

Year after year, we have to endure their hate and bigotry. Why is he consistently allowed to speak publicly?

I am glad that a few of my peers decided to mock him with signs reading “Comedy Central presents Bigot with sign and gay guitarist” and “Party in hell. B.Y.O.B.”

The speaker’s words are a disturbance to the peace. At least a few of our own found a way to confront these individuals without being argumentative and violent.
