NCAA crashes pool party

If you’re an avid Facebooker, chances are you already joined a pool for the NCAA basketball tournament. If you’re a student athlete and a Facebooker, chances are you pulled out of your Facebook pool after we published an article about Georgia basketball players who would have violated NCAA regulations by participating in these pools. Either way, the March Madness is in full swing.

Chick-fil-Awesome

University student’s favorite quick-serve restaruant, Chick-fil-A, is in the midst of performing a trifecta in Athens: a grand opening, a complete demolition and putting biscuits where there previously were none. While arguably the grand opening and the demolition will have a pretty broad impact around Athens, we think the biscuits in the Tate Center’s Bulldog Cafe will resonate loudest with University students. Why? Because students now have a reason to register for 8 a.m. classes again.

Spring Break hall monitor

Though the campus will seem a little less crowded today, we hope those that stuck around for their Friday classes will take some time today and consider a very important part of Spring Break: safety. Yeah, we know, here someone goes again mentioning the S-word, trying to ruin your week of rebellious youthful behavior – but it’s not like that. We at The Red & Black are not against raucous behavior, but we are against dumbass behavior. So whether you are partying it up on some beach, enjoying the culture of a foreign country or just hanging out in your hometown, please heed at least this one piece of advice: don’t die.

Like ninjas, only prettier

The Gym Dogs lost a meet for the first time since 2005 last Sunday, when they were defeated by the UCLA Bruins with a score of 197.15 to 197. Don’t worry, though – the last time the Gym Dogs lost was just a few weeks before they earned the national title. Wanna see if the Gym Dogs make a comeback? Cheer them on at Stegeman tonight at 7:30 as they take on No.12 Michigan.

Spring is bringing sexy back

Justin Timber-who? If any person or natural phenomenon is to thank for the repopularization of attractiveness and carnal satisfaction, it’s spring – that wonderful quarter of the year heralded by skirts, shorts and newfound tans. Temperatures are starting to rise just in time for Spring Break, meaning vacationing University students, staff and faculty will return to a much sunnier Athens come Monday, March 19. Seems that silly groundhog was right after all.
