CRIME NOTEBOOK

The following incidents were taken from Athens-Clarke County and University Police reports:

March 14

 A University employee reported a $1,000 handy camera and its accessories stolen to University Police.

The items belonged to the University and were taken from the Poultry Science Building between Feb. 19 and March 7.

March 16

 A female University employee reported receiving repeated harassing e-mails to University Police.

She received the e-mails between Feb. 14 and March 14 from someone she does not know.

 University Police issued a warrant for the arrest of a non-student on financial transaction theft charges.

Police issued the warrant for Letoris McDuffie after investigating a student-reported theft on

March 1.

The student told police she left her purse in the Psychology Building between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m on March 1.

When she returned, her wallet was missing. She later discovered someone had used her debit card.

McDuffie is charged with theft by taking, financial transaction card theft, two counts of financial transaction card fraud and two counts of criminal attempt financial transaction card fraud.

March 17

 University Police arrested three visitors and one University student and charged them with driving under the influence early Saturday morning.

Police arrested Alexander Mackenzie Nash at 1:52 a.m. on Lumpkin Street after he ran a red light.

Police arrested Melody Kay Barret and Daniel Phillip Moon at 3:02 a.m. in the Franklin House Parking Lot.

University student Neal Cho Hong was arrested at 3:44 a.m. on Oconee Street.

 A male University student reported to University Police his car was broken into at the Hull Street Deck between 10:30 a.m. on March 10 and 3:15 p.m. on March 17.

His $200 CD player was taken.

March 18

 ACC Police arrested University student Matthew John Goodale and charged him with public intoxication.

The officer approached Goodale after he headbutted a parked vehicle on East Clayton Street several times.

Goodale smelled strongly of alcohol, slurred his speech and could barely keep his balance.

 A male University student reported a residential burglary to ACC Police.

James Ernest Stewart IV told police his room at the Lambda Chi fraternity house was entered between 4:30 p.m. March 9 and 5:40 p.m March 18.

His $130 TV/DVD combo was the only item taken.

Stewart’s door could not be locked because it was broken. He also told the officer one of the doors to the frat house was open and unlockable.

He told police he probably would not press charges if the suspect was located.
