University minimum salary to rise in ’08
The University plans to increase the minimum wage paid to salaried employees beginning Jan. 1, 2008.
The wage will be $20,000 per year, a 5.3 percent jump, compared to the current $19,000 lowest salary.
“We are once again pleased to be able to direct a portion of the University’s resources to those employees who most need it,” said University President Michael F. Adams in a news release. “The University has taken some very large steps over the past five years to address the wages paid to our lowest-paid employees.”
The increase will affect 586 salaried employees.
The University also plans to add to the fringe benefits package that employees choose for themselves and their dependents.
