Houts joins Team USA

Ashley Houts will have a chance to compete on an international stage this summer.

Houts, a rising sophomore from Trenton, was named to the USA under 21 National Team, will compete in the 2007 FIBA World Championships in Moscow, Russia, beginning at the end of June.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Houts. “It’s our job to win the gold medal. That’s primarily our goal.”

Felton returns from USO trip

Georgia men’s basketball coach Dennis Felton recently returned from Kuwait as a member of USO’s Operation Hardwood.

Five other NCAA basketball coaches joined Felton as they coached six teams of military personnel on a base in Kuwait.

Brewer signs with Bulldogs

Troy Brewer of Rockville, Md., completed the 2007 class for the Bulldogs, adding more depth to the guard position.

Brewer, a 6-foot-5-inch shooting guard prospect, signed his national letter-of-intent on May 16, during the late signing period.

UGAAA helps player’s family

In order to help pay for the costs of the funeral of Jeremy Price’s mother, the University Athletic Association announced they are accepting donations to help with expenses. Price’s mother, Constance Reid, passed away on June 9.
