Tomorrow, the Entertainment Division of University Union is bringing Goldfinger, a punk/ska band, to Legion Field for the University’s seventh annual “Big Dawg Welcome Week,” a series of events that is held for the purpose of highlighting the variety of activities available to students throughout the year.
“Big Dawg Welcome Week is an event for everybody, but it is especially good for incoming freshmen because it gives them an opportunity to get out of their dorms, relax and meet new people,” said Matt Slotten, a junior from Roswell and University Union’s entertainment coordinator.
“The best part is that it’s all free,” he added. “It’s sort of like a philanthropic reach-out from the University.”
Following the concert is Dawgs After Dark, an all-night party that offers students a chance to have fun without having to spend money or go downtown. Tomorrow’s theme is “Georgia Night,” showcasing all things Georgia in order to capture the spirit of being a Bulldog and get everybody pumped up for the upcoming football season.
“Coming to this school was a big choice to make,” said Coordinator Felicia Barrett, adding that she wants students to feel like part of the Bulldog family by coming to this event which boasts trivia, rival dunk tanks, and more. “Bring your student ID, your friends and your smile,” said Barrett. “We’ve got everything else!”
