Georgia Theatre to host reformed band

This Saturday, rehab will no longer be limited to young, female celebrities. In fact, it won’t even be limited to the addicted.
This won’t be the rehab of the Lohan/Spears variety, but rather the Rehab of the alternative rock/rap band variety. Returning to the stage of the Georgia Theatre as the headliner of the ReverbNation tour, longtime local favorite Rehab will be joined by The Crazy Anglos and Demun Jones.
Rehab originally topped charts back in 2000 with their hit “It Don’t Matter” off the album “Southern Discomfort.”
What have they been doing since?
The band broke up after their 2000 fame, only to rearrange and reform under the leadership of front man Danny “Boone” Alexander. The new group released “Graffiti the World” in 2005 and recently released several songs on the album “Cuz We Can.”
But fans shouldn’t worry; the band understands what the audience wants to hear.
“We are playing some new, unreleased tunes that we haven’t played before,” said Rehab bassist Hano Leathers. “But we’re also playing older classics from ‘Southern Discomfort’ that the fans request but we haven’t played that much.”

With opener Demun Jones contributing vocals, the band will attempt to fill the void of the original Rehab members lost in the break-up and capitalize on their “Southern Discomfort” successes.
Leathers was upbeat after the first show of the tour.
“It was the first time to try our new set and it was really high energy,” he said. “We ended up cutting some songs to keep the pace really high.”
Georgia Theatre owner Wilmont Greene is expecting the same when the band takes his stage tomorrow night.
“I’ve seen every show here,” he said. “These guys are always really crazy.”
However, playing the Theatre is not just another show on the tour for Rehab. Leathers, as well as the band’s drummer and DJ, are all Athens natives.
“We’ve been playing the Theater since ’93,” said Leathers. “We’re always excited to come to Athens. It’s like coming home.”
