Univ. weeps over death
University student Dylan Richard Kaufman, who friends and family remembered as a “beautiful man,” died Monday.
Kaufman, 22, was a finance major from Atlanta.
Jim Rawls, a friend of the Kaufman family, said the family “wants to express their grief and sorrow” about their loss.
Kaufman was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
He “is remembered as incredibly loyal to his friends, witty, and full of life,” according to a death notice on www.ajc.com.
Martha Ledbetter, a senior from Atlanta, echoed those sentiments.
“He touched so many people with his friendship and will be extremely missed,” Ledbetter said. “Dylan was a guy that loved his friends and music. His harmonica and guitar were never far away from him, and he always loved to break them out.”
Alan Campbell, the associate dean of student affairs, said Kaufman was an active University student but not registered for courses this semester.
“Our hearts go out to the family and those who knew and loved the man,” Campbell said.
Philip Lennox, a friend of Kaufman’s, started a memorial group on Facebook.com. The group had 150 members as of Wednesday night.
Information about Kaufman’s cause of death was undisclosed.
His funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at The Temple at 1589 Peachtree Street NE in Atlanta.
