Police to implement checkpoint, verify licenses and insurance proof
University Police officers will be at a vehicle checkpoint today to maintain safety on the road, according to Lt. Lisa Boone of University police.
Boone did not say where the checkpoint will be or how many officers it will involve, but she did stress police will be looking for offenses other than driving under the influence of alcohol. She said they will see if drivers have a valid license and proof of insurance, among other things.
“It will help us to identify people who should not be driving,” Boone said.
There is not a specific reason the police department chose today for the checks, Boone said.
She mentioned police have not had a checkpoint this semester.
Despite the concentrated number of police officers on the road today, Boone said, “We encourage you to drive safely all the time.”
