Poem from LSU fan on Georgia win over Florida
The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party
(or: Georgia on my mind)
I went up to Jacksonville
to watch a football game.
And I looked around the stadium
at all the folks who came.
Some were wearing orange and blue,
some wore black and red.
I even saw a Packers fan
with a cheese hat on his head
When Georgia scored the first touchdown
their joy was not concealed.
Their coach, Mark Richt, sent all the team
out onto the field.
I was getting kind of hungry,
flagged the hotdog vendor down,
and when I looked back to the field
I saw Tim Tebow on the ground.
The score was fourteen – seven
at the end of quarter one.
A Gator intercepted Stafford
and made a touchdown run.
Here a sack, there a sack,
Tebow’s on the ground.
It was seventeen to twenty-one
when halftime came around.
The second half of play began,
a good game I could see.
And both teams scored a touchdown
in quarter number three.
The final quarter was a blast
and as I looked around
I saw a familiar figure,
Tim Tebow, on the ground.
The gators scored one more touchdown
and then tried to go for two.
But their greed would get them nowhere.
And Georgia tightened up the screw.
The games all over, we’re quite drunk,
the player’s uniforms are dirty.
Georgia conquered Florida
forty-two to thirty!
