ACC POLICE SKETCH OF SEXUAL BATTERY SUSPECT

Athens-Clarke County Police released Monday a sketch of a man who followed a University woman home before Fall Break.

This man could also be the man who abducted two women from downtown Athens in a white van during the Georgia-South Carolina football game weekend, said ACC Detective Ben Dickerson.

According to a report police released with the sketch:

On Oct. 18, a man in a burgundy four-door sedan approached a group of four women near downtown Athens and asked if they needed a ride, but they declined. One of the women, a University student, left the group and went to her apartment on North Avenue. Approximately 10 minutes later, someone knocked at her door.

The man who had offered her a ride earlier tried to get into her apartment. He also touched her hair and hip and tried to kiss her.

The woman closed the door after her roommate awoke and told them to be quiet.

The suspect is in his late 20s to early 30s, has a medium build and brown hair and is between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches.

During the incident, he was wearing a black long-sleeved dress shirt, black pants and black shoes.

Anyone with information should contact ACC Detective Ben Dickerson at the Athens-Clarke County Police Department at 706-613-3337 ext. 793.
