Amendments to SGA constitution ratified
After a week of voting, students approved eight amendments to the Student Government Association’s constitution.
“All the amendments passed and about 700 people voted on each amendment,” said Katy Bowers, president of SGA.
Amendments included the creation of a General Assembly, adding the office of treasurer to the party ticket, creating a Freshman Forum program and establishing a Finance Committee.
“Everybody in SGA is really excited about the amendments passing,” Sara Andrzejewski, vice president of SGA, said. “We spent many long, grueling nights of Senate hammering out all the details, and we’re really excited about them.”
One of the amendments added a graduate senator for every 2,000 graduate students. This amendment’s passage was important because SGA needed to inform the graduate student community about this new addition so those interested could prepare to campaign, Attorney General Justin Shepherd said.
