University Police linked a University teaching assistant with seven cases of theft since December 2006, and warrants for her arrest were issued Monday.

Jennifer Nicole Kane will be charged with 10 counts of theft by receiving, three felony counts of possession of a fake ID, three misdemeanor counts of possession of a fake ID, six counts of financial transaction card fraud and financial transaction card theft.

The first of seven incidents was reported to police in April, and the seventh was reported Friday.

According to University Police reports:

On April 1, a driver’s license and credit card were stolen from a purse in the Rankin Smith Athletic Center.

On April 4, a driver’s license and two credit cards were stolen from Park Hall.

On April 25, a driver’s license, credit card and check card were stolen from the Rankin Smith building.

On July 18, a debit card and credit card were stolen from Joe Brown Hall.

On Sept. 27, a bookbag with two credit cards and a driver’s license were stolen from the journalism building.

Between Jan. 1 and Oct. 18, three textbooks were taken from the Rankin Smith building.

On Friday, a student said her wallet with a driver’s license, IDs, two debit cards and a credit card was stolen from the Rankin Smith building on Dec. 11, 2006.

The credit cards were used to make unauthorized purchases in the cases.

On Oct. 15 and 18, Sgt. Adam Fouche found two IDs from the Dec. 11 case and three stolen textbooks at Kane’s apartment while serving search warrants.

“I don’t want to explain details of the investigation, but she was a student, teaching assistant and tutor and had access,” said University Police Chief Jimmy Williamson.
