The red and black wants to know: What’s your move?
The world of the running back is a complex and quickly changing one, with holes opening and closing, legs pumping, mind racing. That leaves a lot of decisions to be made, and fast. But, at least for Knowshon Moreno, it seems to be more of a subconscious effort.
“You really don’t think about it, to tell you the truth. It’s more like a reaction. I guess, if you think about making a move you’re going to make the wrong move,” he said.
Following the video game theme, First & Goal picks the brains of Moreno and freshmen tailbacks Caleb King and Richard Samuel, and finds out their favorite moves in and out of the backfield.
HURDLE
Moreno:”That’s dangerous. I would tell you not to do that. I don’t really like to do that.”
SPIN
King:”The defense says the spin is my favorite but I don’t plan it, it just happens.”
STIFF ARM
Samuel:”I’d say my favorite is the stiff arm. It’s hard to do in the open field so it’s not that often, but running up the middle is when I can run them over. It’s a real good feeling.”
Moreno: “I like to stiff arm a little bit but anything that works at that point in time is good.”
JUKE
King:”It depends what the defense does. If they go outside, I’ll fake and step inside. It all comes down to what the defense is going to do.”
Samuel: “I’d probably like a little side-stepping, little shake-n-bake.”
