Jesse Jackson to appear at 40 Watt Monday
Rev. Jesse Jackson will speak Monday night at the 40 Watt Club to honor the hard workers of Athens.

Jackson is one of several speakers and bands featured between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. for the fourth annual Celebration of Workers’ Rights event.
The Economic Justice Coalition, an Athens-Clarke County non-profit organization that works for a living wage and fair treatment for all workers, will show “Mississippi Chicken,” a documentary about the chicken processing industry in the South, at Cine. Representatives from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and the University’s Living Wage Campaign.
Athens-native bands Vinyl Strangers – a powerpop/indie group – and Ishues in Movement – a hip-hop/rap singer – will perform at the event also.
Coalition members are asking for a $5 donation for the documentary and $10 admission to events at the 40 Watt. Tickets for both are $12.
