A student who collided with a car in last week said he does not remember the accident “whatsoever.”

Ryan Davis, a senior from Conyers, said he remembered leaving Boyd Graduate Studies Building on his motorcycle on Sept. 8 and then waking up in an ambulance with his helmet still on. Davis was kept in the intensive care unit for a day at St. Mary’s Hospital for a concussion, he said. He has a broken thumb.

The driver of the car was given a ticket for failure to yield, he said.

Drivers, including those of motorcycles and scooters, need to be cautious, University Police Chief Jimmy Williamson said.

Williamson said too many drivers are distracted by iPods, cell phones and text messaging.

“I urge people that as they drive to put those other distractions down because those other modes of transportation are harder to identify.”

Davis echoed the advice, saying drivers must be more aware of motorcycles and scooters on the road. Davis said he will drive his car for the rest of the school year.
