No. 5 Texas vs. No. 1 Oklahoma

Dallas, Texas
ABC
Saturday, Noon

The Red River Rivalry meets with both teams sporting top-five rankings for the 10th time, and Oklahoma has won the last three such meetings (the last coming in 2004). Both are 5-0 and 1-0 in the Big XII, and Texas’ Colt McCoy (103-130 for 1,280 yards and 16 TD) and the Sooners’ Sam Bradford (106-146, 1,665, 18) are two of the best quarterbacks in the country.

Texas started the year ranked at No. 11 in the AP poll, but has largely flown under the radar during its climb up to the fifth spot. Both teams have scored over 50 points three times in ’08, and rank 1-2 in scoring defense in the Big XII.

Mississippi State vs. No. 13 Vanderbilt

Starkville, Miss.

Saturday, 2:30 p.m.

Mississippi State has lost three in a row, and Vanderbilt is still undefeated (5-0, 3-0 SEC) and leading the SEC East after a one-point win over Auburn last week and topping South Carolina earlier in the year.

Vandy quarterback Mackenzi Adams was 13 of 23 for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns filling in for the injured Chris Nickson against Auburn. As of Wednesday, both Adams and Nickson were taking snaps with the first-team offense.

Mississippi State has a 3-2 loss to Auburn under its belt, but Vandy is shooting for the most consecutive SEC wins in school history.

No. 11 Florida vs. No. 4 LSU

Gainesville, Fla.
CBS
Saturday, 8 p.m.

LSU defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois and the rest of the Tiger defense apparently want to “take out” Florida QB Tim Tebow, and that only adds to a marquee SEC matchup that features the last two national champions. The home team has never lost in past matchups of previous national champions. Tebow has put up pretty pedestrian numbers so far this season, but the Gators still lead the SEC in scoring offense. Despite Florida’s multi-headed rushing attack, LSU actually averages almost 30 more yards per game on the ground.
