A University freshman was killed after he fell from an overlook in Tennessee Sunday.

Nathan Greer Yorke, from Mount Pleasant, S.C., died after falling off Morgan’s Steep in Sewanee, Tenn., according to Eric Hartman, dean of students at the University of the South, which is located in Sewanee.

According to published reports, investigators said Yorke went to sit on the edge of the bluff and then fell. A friend who was with him called 911. When emergency teams rushed to the scene, he was unconscious.

He died at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga Sunday evening. A service will be held in St. Augustine’s Chapel in Sewanee tonight, and the funeral will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina on Thursday.
