Dogs fans should ‘step up, show support’
What is wrong with all the fans who “bleed red and black” but cut and run during a losing game?
By the fourth quarter of our game Saturday, there were more Florida fans than Georgia fans in our “home” half of the stadium. In the final minutes, when Joe Cox managed to put up a touchdown pass, the UF fans took great pleasure in applauding our team for us – since we had hardly anyone left to support our players. Another victory for Urban Meyer and his fourth quarter display of sportsmanship.
Sure, leaving early distances yourself from the loss (and the traffic), and makes it less embarrassing for you, the fan.
But you have to remember this: our coach and football team (and band, for that matter), do not have that luxury. It doesn’t matter if we’re riding the pain train all over Georgia Southern or watching our offense struggle against a very talented Florida team that’s clearly going to win by a landslide.
University fans need to step up and show some support, especially during bad games. Though fans don’t directly control the outcome of games, it’s relatively common knowledge that the perceived “momentum” of games can often turn the tide. That is something that a crowd can influence. Leaving early may make you feel better, but leaving your team alone in Jacksonville in a stadium full of gloating Gators is just plain rude.

Bulldogs trashed St. Simons
For the first time in my life, I am ashamed to be a Georgia Bulldog.
As a double Dog and a resident of St. Simons, I am utterly disgusted and dismayed by the Bulldog Nation.
Much like every year students and alumni descended on St. Simons, but this year the unruly behavior and disgusting lack of care about the environment was absolutely staggering.
Particularly, amongst students who came down for the game, the reprehensible behavior was staggering.
The amount of trash left on our beaches even left the chief of the county police here to say, “It was the ugliest, [most] unruly conduct that I’ve seen in a long time.”
Every Bulldog, especially the students, should be downright ashamed of themselves. And next year, I hope you remember, people actually live down here and we have to deal with your outlandish behavior and trash.
If you can’t treat your surroundings with respect, stay home!

Students should toss their trash
It is an embarrassment the amount of trash people leave behind when they leave class each day. Sure, there are janitors who will clean it up eventually; this isn’t the point.
Take responsibility for yourself and clean up after yourself. This isn’t college-level ethics; it’s something you would slap a child for not doing.
Don’t try and slink away from your responsibility for your actions just because no one is there to slap you. Be proud to be a Bulldog. Show you have the good sense of a college-educated adult, and clean up after yourself. Please.
