Golf player charged with alcohol possession
A University golf player was arrested and charged with underage possession of alcohol and possession of a fake ID Saturday at East Campus Village Commons.
A police officer met with Housing security at Rooker Hall in reference to an intoxicated person – Patrick Nathaniel Reed, a freshman from Martinez. When police asked Reed for identification, he gave a Georgia driver’s license that “appeared to be a reproduction taped over his real driver’s license,” according to the police report. Police checked his license number, which revealed his actual date of birth to be four years later than the fake date of birth on the ID.
Reed was placed under arrest for underage possession. Athletic Association policy states that athletes charged with an alcohol violation are suspended for 10 percent of games.
