Regents call meeting to discuss added budget cuts, mandatory student fees
An 8 percent budget cut plan could immediately impact faculty, staff and students in January. The Board of Regents announced a special called meeting Wednesday to approve 8 percent cuts for the University System of Georgia.
The cuts would be implemented in the spring by reducing the employer contribution rate for the PPO and HMO health insurance plans from 75 percent to 70 percent, waiving policy 704.021 on mandatory student fees and instituting a temporary, mandatory fee of $100 per semester.
