The deadline for filing taxes is a month away but students can take advantage of a free service to help them navigate the sometimes tricky process.
The University’s College of Family & Consumer Sciences and the Georgia Federal Credit Union have teamed up to create the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program to offer free tax assistance to the public.

When it comes to more than 30 reports of mold in four dorms during the past year, old buildings are to blame. Nine rooms in Mell Hall, nine rooms in Lipscomb, eight rooms in Creswell and five rooms in Payne have reported mold problems since January 2008 – and many of them reported problems two or three times.
Swimming earns SEC accolades

Georgia’s Peter Benner and Allison Schmitt earned Southeastern Conference Freshmen of the Year honors and Lisa Caprioglio was named the SEC Female Scholar-Athlete Award winner. Additionally, 10 Lady Bulldogs and six Bulldogs were named as First or Second Team All-SEC selections based on their performances at last weekend’s SEC Swimming and Diving Championships.
Vance: Ready to get back to playing field

Georgia offensive lineman Vince Vance certainly wasn’t alone when he tore his right ACL last season, adding his name to a long list of injury-plagued Bulldogs.
And though he’ll be limited in spring practice, he said Wednesday his recovery is coming along well.

The Georgia men’s basketball team moved out of last place in the SEC, passing Arkansas, with its 61-57 victory over Vanderbilt Wednesday night.
Georgia guard Ricky McPhee gave the Bulldogs (11-17, 2-11) the lift they needed to finish off the Commodores, draining a 3 with 2:22 left to take the lead for good.
Grand slam lifts Georgia in win

Two feet was all that stood in the way of a second grand slam for Georgia catcher Bryce Massanari in the Diamond Dogs’ 11-4 victory over Presbyterian College at Foley Field Wednesday.
Following an intentional walk to Georgia junior first baseman Rich Poythress to load the bases in the eighth inning, Massanari strode to the plate looking for not only his first, but his second grand slam of the afternoon.

Georgia center Angel Robinson knows the meaning of sharing.
That’s because since she came into the world she has had to share everything with her twin brother James.
“I never knew what it’s like to have my own birthday,” Angel said joking. “I have to split things two ways instead of just having it all to myself.

The Gym Dogs’ climb back to the nation’s No. 1 spot was officially completed Monday, as the switch to regional qualifying scores (RQS) pushed them past Utah and to the top of the rankings.

Men’s tennis moves outdoors without challenge

Temperature becomes a factor. The rain, the shine, the whole gamut. There is no longer a roof separating the courts and the players from the elements or stagnant air keeping the ball from spinning off at skewed angles.
But it was no problem for the Georgia men’s tennis team as it blanked Georgia State 7-0 in its first outdoor match of the season.

Taste of Athens is one of the most anticipated annual events in the Athens food community and beyond. Held at the Classic Center downtown, nearly 50 restaurants and cafés participate, and just over a dozen beverage vendors provide samples as well. The highlight of the event had to be Dondero’s Kitchen, which offers catering, groceries and in-house dining with a twist; they change their menu weekly, featuring authentic dishes from different countries and regions.
