The Remix Party is already achieving our platform – well before the election is even over. For instance, we’ve partnered with student organizations, such as Nourish International, to help them pursue their goals. SGA should be a real, positive connection between student organizations and the University’s administration.

In order to advocate for student interests, our experience and relationships with administrators is critical. We’ve already established a fantastic working relationship with administrators and we look forward to continual cooperation once we’re elected.

As president of the Black Affairs Council, treasurer candidate Alfred Richardson, knows the importance of close ties to those who can help students. We’re excited about the relationships Alfred brings to our party – and will bring to SGA.

Our vice-presidential candidate, Brittany Cassell, served as president of her sorority. Working with the Office of Student Affairs was a regular task and she’s got tremendous experience working with key administrators.

Laura Ann Thompson, our presidential candidate has got to be the most personable person you’ll meet – which is why she has such phenomenal connections with our University’s administration, such as Provost Arnett Mace. Laura Ann’s also got SGA experience to boot – from the Freshman Board to the Senate.

As a team, we’re ecstatic that we can use these relationships to your benefit, advocating for you and your organizations.

Our platform comes down to three core concepts: Our Door’s Always Open, We’re Students Just Like You and Student Interests Are Paramount. We’re not running so that we can play “politician.” We’re not running for self-importance. Its simple – we’re running because we’ve got experience and relationships with the administration that we can use to advocate for students.

When you think about SGA, you probably don’t know much about it. Or if you do, you might not be too impressed. That’s a problem, and by making SGA more relatable and approachable, it’s one we will solve when elected.

If there’s one thing you should take away from this, let it be that the Remix Party is serious. We’re serious about making SGA work for students – not the for Student Government Association. And we’ve got all the tools to do it.

- Laura Ann Thompson, Brittany Cassell and Alfred Richardson are the executive candidates for the Remix Party.
