Knife yields felony arrest
University student Andrew Jackson Glenn V was arrested and charged with felony weapon possession on school grounds in Creswell Hall on Thursday at 10:43 p.m.
He was throwing a 2.5 inch spring-loaded switch blade knife into a door, the police report stated. Alexander gave the knife to Creswell security before the police arrived.
A knife on campus with a blade more than two inches is considered a felony, punishable by at least two years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000, according to past reports from The Red & Black.
Other University students have faced felony charges after being found with weapons on campus.
In 2007 University basketball player Billy Humphrey was arrested for having a knife in his dorm room. The Red & Black reported Humphrey paid a $5,000 bond.
In other news, a fight in Lumpkin Street led to the arrest of six people,
including one University student. Ryon Ayers Plummer, along with five visitors, was charged with affray on Friday at 3:11 a.m. Plummer and two others were charged with underage possession.
