On behalf of Katie and Cameron, I would like to thank you all for putting up with all that is campaign week. Thank you for listening to us campaign in class and for taking our campaign material. We are honored to be in these positions. We realize we are your elected representatives, and we will continually work to make sure your interests are met.

This year, the student body had one of the highest voter turnouts in Student Government Association history. For some, however, the election is not over. Today and Thursday, there will be runoff elections in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and the School of Social Work. If you are in one of these schools, please be sure to take the time and vote once again. It literally takes two minutes.

Over the next year, Katie, Cameron and I will be working daily to make sure we are upholding the promises made in our contract. At the top of our list is putting SGA in a position where it will be able to better aid student clubs and organizations on campus. We believe this comes from the direct student stewardship of Student Activities fees. In addition, at the end of our term we will give you the choice to redefine SGA as an organization that meets this goal.

Though this is our greatest ambition, we cannot do it alone.

Today applications will be available on the SGA Web site (www.uga.edu/sga) and in the SGA office for all open positions. These opportunities range from committee directors to senate clerk. Applications will be due this Monday at 4p.m. in the SGA office (which is in the Student Activities office, downstairs at Tate). Be sure to sign up for an interview time for next week too!

As someone not previously involved in SGA and a former skeptic, I would really encourage anyone who is even slightly interested in SGA to apply. This organization has tons of potential, but we can only reach that potential if there is participation from across campus. We believe that SGA should be a true representation of the student body, with a wide variety of backgrounds and ideals.

Katie, Cameron and I look forward to working with you this next year. Please feel free to contact us at any time, we want to give you the SGA that you deserve.
