Georgia softball pitchers face tough lineup in Tech
The “word of the day” for No.7 Georgia softball: frustration.
After being swept by rival Alabama, the Bulldogs (25-7, 7-5 SEC) now face a different challenge against another hated opponent. Georgia puts its undefeated home record (16-0) on the line as No. 22 Georgia Tech (28-10, 6-3 ACC) travels to Athens this evening, hoping to continue to its recent success against Georgia.
Georgia has lost six of its last nine games to the Yellow Jackets, including four straight, with its last win coming in 2006.
Not a single player on the 2009 roster ever has been part of a victory over Georgia Tech – a very frustrating situation. For this drought to end, Georgia will have to shake off its uncharacteristic offensive problems against the Crimson Tide.

The Bulldogs, which score nearly seven runs per game (third in the nation), managed just three runs in the entire series.
Georgia will try to take out its frustration on Georgia Tech’s solid pitching staff – led by sophomore pitcher Kristen Adkins (14-6, 1.36 ERA) and senior Tiffany Johnson (11-1, 1.47 ERA).
Sophomore player of the year candidate Alisa Goler has a good history against Georgia Tech, going 6-for-7 with three RBIs in two games in Atlanta during her freshman season.
Georgia Tech presents a balanced and dangerous lineup for the Bulldog pitchers, with some of the more productive players in the nation this season.
Tech’s Kelsi Weseman (.423) and Jen Yee (.421) consistently get on base, while Whitney Haller and Johnson consistently knock in runs (combined 75 RBIs).
Georgia pitchers will need to be sharp in order to control the Yellow Jackets’ steady approach and potential power.
Despite its recent struggles, Georgia leads the all-time series 15-9.
