Nu‡i's Space will host a benefit concert Friday for Depression and Suicide Awareness Week.

Can an empty space at the corner of Oconee and Williams streets change a person’s outlook on life?

Nui’s Space may not be able to bring back those who have lost their lives due to depression. However, it may be able to prevent a suicide from occurring, or at the very least, connect with those who have been affected by it.

“The reason behind Depression and Suicide Awareness Week is to find a way to reach out to the UGA

This year the theme of the week is “Share Your Story.”

Tonight kicks off the week with a panel discussion.

“Every person has a story,” Ford said. “It is important to know that there are resources out there to help you . if you have a friend who is in need of help, it is important that you know what you can do to help them.”

This week, Nui’s Space raises its voice a little louder to help everyone remember – there is nothing quite as important as gaining the knowledge to potentially save a life.
