Diamond Dogs No. 1 again in coaches poll
For the third time this season, the Georgia baseball team is ranked No. 1 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll released Monday.
Arizona State is No. 2 followed by LSU, Rice and North Carolina to round out the top five.
Georgia (29-6, 11-4 SEC) swept Kentucky last weekend to gain sole possession of first place in the SEC.
The Bulldogs, which lead Florida by two games in the SEC East, are ranked No. 2 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 8 by Baseball America.

Club volleyball brings home championship
Georgia’s women’s club volleyball team captured the Division II national championship this weekend at the 2009 National Campus Championship Series Volleyball Club Championships.
Georgia defeated Ohio University in the championship in three sets – 25-22, 25-27, 16-14.
The tournament was held in Kansas City, Mo., and concluded Saturday. Before beginning bracket play, Georgia won both of its pool plays last Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, Georgia placed first over Kansas State, Oregon and SUNY-Albany.
On Friday, Georgia placed first in a championship pool over Stanford and USC, moving to the bracket round.
Georgia then beat Central Florida in the first round and Loyola in the second round.
In the semifinals, Georgia faced Indiana and dropped the first set but rallied to win 20-25, 25-21, 15-10, advancing to the championship.
