Column contradicts itself, lacks proper sensitivity

Michael Fitzpatrick should figure out his own beliefs before he sits down to write another column (outside of the sports section).

He says guns should not be banned, but that it is “far too easy” for people to get guns. He says that guns don’t kill people, “people with guns kill people.” Consistent so far!

Yet he criticizes President Barack Obama’s increased insistence on background checks, citing it as clear evidence that he wants to “restrict the public’s ability to purchase guns.”

Hello, contradictions! Background checks are the closest thing we have in place to fixing those same problems.

When I read Fitzpatrick interpreted the Hampton University shooting as the gods conspiring against him, I nearly stopped

reading.

Express your opinions all you want, but make sure you know what they are first. Sorry to be harsh, Michael, but I think we could all use a little sensitivity right now.
