Sportscasting hall of fame inducts Munson

Longtime Georgia radio announcer Larry Munson will be inducted into the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame during the organization’s 50th Annual Awards program scheduled May 2-4 in Salisbury, N.C.

Munson called Georgia football games from 1966 to 2007.

“This is an overwhelming tribute, and I am honored to be selected to this group of outstanding and accomplished professionals,” Munson said.

Women’s golf places in NCAA regional

The Georgia women’s golf team will have to visit its rival’s home course if it wants to advance to the NCAA Championships.

On Monday it was announced Georgia was placed in the NCAA East Regional, and at the Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida. The Regional begins May 7 and concludes May 9.

Men’s golf starters sweep All-SEC honors

The men’s golf All-SEC teams were announced Monday by the league office, and Georgia’s starting lineup made the cut.

Senior Brian Harman, junior Hudson Swafford, sophomore Russell Henley and sophomore Harris English all were named First-Team All-SEC. This is Harman’s third first-team selection and the second for Swafford. Henley and English were on the second team last year. Adam Mitchell, who was First- Team All-SEC last season, was named to the second team this year.
