Georgia softball player named to SEC community service team

Georgia sophomore Sarah McCloud was named to the 2009 Southeastern Conference Softball Community Service Team according to an announcement made by the league on Tuesday.

The SEC sponsors community service teams for all 20 league sponsored sports, and the community service team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.

McCloud, a native of Celina, Texas and Health Promotion major, has become a valuable member of the Athens community in addition to her time spent on the softball field and in the classroom. She has assisted with the Special Olympics 5K SOAR run, and she has visited and read to local elementary school students to promote National Young Readers Week. Additionally, McCloud participated in the SEC can food drive.
