A FRESH(MAN) START
All new students must attend an orientation session. Freshman orientation is a two-day process whereby students learn how to take advantage of UGA’s educational, social and cultural opportunities. Students meet their academic adviser and register for their first semester of classes.
Students spend the night in Creswell Residence Hall. During the first day, freshmen take a tour of North Campus, learn about first year experiences from orientation leaders and take placement exams for classes such as math and English.
The second day includes a resources fair, where students can learn about campus organizations, and a session where students hear from University Police and the Office of Judicial Programs about the consequences of underage drinking and illegal substance usage.
Orientation leaders engage students by putting on skits (pictured above) and candidly answering questions about what to expect in their first year.
