The Athens-Clarke County Police issued a special release to alert the public of a robbery which took place late Tuesday at the Papa John’s Pizza across the street from University’s Brumby Hall.

The ACC police sent out a release later Wednesday saying the main is suspected in an attempted robbery at the Exxon Gas Station, 1650 Commerce Road, around noon Wednesday and a Dollar General in Jackson County.

According to the ACC, officers responded to a robbery at Papa John’s, located at 496 Baxter Street, at 11 p.m. Tuesday. Employees told police a white male entered and approached the counter, and when asked if he wanted to order, handed an employee a note saying she was being watched by an armed gunman outside the business. He said as long as she gave him the money, no one would get hurt. She complied and he left.

The suspect entered a black Ford Taurus and left southbound on South Milledge Avenue. He was described as 30 to 35 years of age, 5-foot-10, 180 to 200 pounds, with short, curly hair. He wore a black tank top, white shorts, black tennis shoes, and had tattoos on his left arm and right shoulder.

Attached are the images from the Papa John’s Robbery and the Exxon Attempted Robbery.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Jerry Saulters at 706-613-3888 extension 296
