Defensive tackle Ricardo Crawford returned from his study abroad program in Oxford, England Sunday. He enjoyed everything - except for the fish and chips.

Don’t get Ricardo Crawford wrong – he loved his recent trip to England. But the local cuisine? Not so much.

“The food wasn’t all that good, but I could manage,” said Crawford, a defensive tackle for Georgia. “I had the fish and chips. They were really, really greasy. So I was like, you know what, I’m going to just go to McDonald’s and call it a day.”

Crawford returned to the States Sunday night after spending two weeks studying abroad through the UGA at Oxford program. While there he saw plays, hit the big tourist spots in London, and, of course, gained some knowledge – both in class and on the streets.

“I learned some good British history,” he said, laughing.

“And stay off the grass. Stay off the grass when you’re there. Don’t touch the grass.”

In Europe, a different kind of football reigns, and Crawford said he didn’t encounter any Georgia football fans outside of the other Georgia students in the program. But he did get a little recognition.

“I had one guy that thought I was a celebrity or whatever,” the 6-foot-1, 304-pound North Carolina native said. “He kept asking me what he could do to make my meal better and how can I serve you. All the other guys were laughing because they know I’m just a normal guy.”

Except for “a couple days of jogging,” the redshirt junior said he didn’t work out much while in Oxford, as his teammates were here working out for summer practice. He did start hitting the weights again on Monday, but the first thing Crawford did when he got back on this side of the Atlantic?

“I went to Wendy’s and got an American burger,” he said.

Middle linebacker Akeem Dent has had some pretty good Saturday’s in his Georgia career – that wasn’t the case this past weekend.

Dent returned home Saturday evening to find his door kicked in and a PlayStation 3 and plasma TV stolen, valued at $1,300 in the police report.

“That’s all being taken care of,” he said Wednesday.
