By on July 8, 2009

Thirteen members of the Georgia swimming and diving teams have been named to the 2009 College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-Americans.

The CSCAA Scholar All-Americans are selected on the basis of their performance in both the pool and classroom. To be selected to the team, student-athletes must have qualified for the NCAA Championship and achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

The Lady Bulldogs placed 10 on the team – Anne-Marie Botek, Lisa Caprioglio, Jessica Cole, Kelsey Ditto, Abigail Fish, Erica Malagon, Michelle McKeehan, Hannah Moore, Aleksandra Putra and Wendy Trott. Representing the Bulldogs were Mark Dylla, Hunter Lainhart and Neil Versfeld.

Moreover, both of the Georgia squads earned Scholar All-America Team status. The Lady Bulldogs had a grade point average of 3.35 and the Bulldogs posted a 3.13.

“We could not be prouder of our student-athletes, because that’s what they are students and athletes,” Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. “Our young men and young women understand the importance of succeeding in the pool and in the classroom. They work very hard at everything they do, and they deserve this recognition.”
