Georgia’s Susannah Dennis to participate in U-20 National Team camp

By on July 8, 2009

Georgia incoming freshman Susannah Dennis has been selected to join the U.S. U-20 national team at its training camp in Boulder, Colo., beginning July 11.

Dennis’ performance last week against Mexico in the U-19 south regional ODP camp led to her selection for the U-20 camp. This marks the first time in Georgia history two Bulldogs have been part of national teams in the same year as sophomore defender Bailey Powell has also trained with the U-20 team.

“Being selected to join the U-20 national team is quite an amazing feeling,” Dennis said. “The fact that I am being given the opportunity to go and train with the best players in our country at this age level is amazing. The level of play and intensity that I will experience will most definitely make me a better player and prepare me for my future career. It is an honor to represent my country as well as my future UGA team.”

A native of Franklin, Tenn., Dennis will arrive in Boulder on Sunday for the weeklong traning camp.

“Sooz’s selection into the U-20 camp is very exciting for her and for us as a program,” Georgia head coach Patrick Baker said. “She has been in such good form as of late and she continued that high level of play last week against Mexico. Sooz has been close to getting a national team call up before and it’s great to see her finally be rewarded for all of her hard work. We wish her the best at camp and look forward to her arrival on campus next month.”

Dennis was named the Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior and a senior at Battleground Academy.
