Botek, Dylla shine at swimming championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Georgia’s Anne-Marie Botek and Mark Dylla each appeared in a championship final on Thursday at the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships.

Botek, a rising senior for the Lady Bulldogs, finished fifth in the women’s 50-meter freestyle. Botek posted a time of 25.10. Dara Torres won the race in 24.43. Former Lady Bulldog Kara Lynn Joyce came in first in the B final with a time of 25.20.

Dylla, who will be a junior for the Bulldogs in 2009-10, placed seventh in the men’s 100-meter butterfly as he touched the wall in 52.80. Michael Phelps won the race with a world-record time of 50.22.

The ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships will continue through Saturday.
