University first-year student Lyndsey Renee Adams has been awarded a UGA Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship for the 2009-2010 academic year. Returning UGA student Eric D. Jones also received the award.

Adams, a Jackson County Comprehensive High School graduate from Hoschton, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher and Jessica Adams. Jones, a Vidalia Comprehensive High School graduate from Hinesville, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry and Lueretha Stevens.

The UGA Alumni Association supports this scholarship, which usually recognizes one academically outstanding undergraduate first-year student, who demonstrates financial need. However, this year, a returning student also received the scholarship, which provides $5,000 per year in addition to the HOPE Scholarship.

The award can be renewed for up to three years, or until the student graduates, if the recipient maintains certain academic standards.

Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship

Twelve University first-year students have been awarded Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarships for the 2009-2010 academic year. Three returning UGA students also received the award.

This scholarship, funded by the Coca-Cola Foundation since 2007, supports academically outstanding students who are the first in their families to attend college. Recipients must demonstrate financial need to be eligible.

Recipients receive $5,000 per year in addition to the state-supported HOPE Scholarship.

The Coca-Cola award is renewable for another three years of undergraduate study if recipients maintain certain academic credentials.
