Death Trip 3D

The fourth installment of the “Final Destination” series is coming to theaters soon – but this time viewers will be donning 3D glasses while watching the gore unfold. The film begins with Nick O’Bannon’s (Bobby Campo) premonition of the deaths of himself and a group of his friends at a car race. In “Final Destination” fashion, the group cheats their demise, but then is picked off one-by-one as Nick attempts to beat Death.

Producer Tim Burton brings to life a post-apocalyptic world in “9.” In the final days of the human world, a scientist gives life to nine “creations,” who are entrusted to save the post-human world from machines seeking to make the scientist’s creations extinct. Will they succeed in their task? Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly and Jennifer Connelly lend their voices to the animated film.
Zombieland
Release date: Oct. 9
This locally filmed horror comedy is about two polar opposites fighting to survive in a zombie-infested world. The film stars Bill Murray, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. It was filmed at various locations in Atlanta, Newnan, Valdosta and Covington.
Where the Wild Things Are
Release date: Oct. 16
Starring Catherine Keener and Mark Ruffalo, the film adaptation of the children’s book “Where the Wild Things Are,” follows the story of Max (Max Records), a boy who creates a world of his own after being sent to be without eating dinner. Max escapes into his very own magical world where his bedroom becomes a forest filled with “wild things” he is able to tame and befriend.
2012
Release date: Nov. 13
Typhoons, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions – these are just a few of the end-of-days natural disasters awaiting the world in December 2012. Starring John Cusack, Amanda Peet and Danny Glover, “2012″ chronicles the lives of people throughout the world during the time the Mayan calendar has designated as the end of the world.
New Moon
Release date: Nov. 20
In the second film adaptation in the Twilight series, Bella (Kristen Stewart) celebrates her 18th birthday with her vampire boyfriend Edward (Robert Pattinson). But the party is cut short when she cuts her finger and her blood tempts the other vampires in the Cullen family. When the Cullens leave town, Bella is devastated and turns to her friend Jacob (Taylor Lautner) for comfort. Soon she’ll find out the Cullens weren’t the only supernatural creatures living in Forks.
The Lovely Bones
Release date: Dec. 11
Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz and Susan Sarandon star in the film adaptation of Alice Sebold’s “The Lovely Bones,” a story about a 14-year-old girl’s brutal murder. Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan, of “Atonement”) watches her family, as they pick up the pieces following her death.
The Princess and the Frog
Release date: Dec. 11
Disney’s first African-American princess is on her way. Princess Tiana (voice by Anika Noni Rose) is a New Orleans native whose fateful kiss with a frog prince sends her on an adventure she’ll never forget. John Goodman, Terrence Howard and Oprah Winfrey lend their voices to the animated musical film.
Sherlock Holmes
Release date: Dec. 25
Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law play the team of detective Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in director Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes.” The film follows the dynamic duo in a battle of wits and brawn with Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong), who is plotting to wreak havoc throughout England.
