Georgia soccer senior forward Carrie Patterson earned her second straight nod to the preseason All-SEC team chosen by the league’s coaches, the conference office announced today.

The Atlanta native was the only unanimous selection on the 11-player squad.

“It’s a really big honor and I’m really excited,” Patterson said. “To be a unanimous selection means a lot to me because it means that in this great league the coaches respect me. There are a lot of great teams in our conference with a ton of talent, and to be recognized on my own team out of all our great players means a lot.”

Patterson is the only player in Bulldog history to be named to the first team All-SEC squad three times, and one of only three players to accomplish that feat twice back-to-back. She will be going for four straight in 2009, already entering the season as the Georgia school record holder in goals (33) and points (84).

“Carrie is very deserving of this preseason recognition by the conference and she is looking forward to another fine season,” said head coach Patrick Baker. “She has been a difference-maker for us so many times and will leave as the most decorated player in Georgia soccer history. With Carrie in our lineup, we stand a chance in every game.”

LSU led all schools with three selections to the squad while Florida and South Carolina each had two.
