Hotel Indigo to host radio broadcast
The Georgia Bulldog Radio Network has found a home for the football gameday broadcast show in Athens’ newest boutique hotel.
Hotel Indigo, located just five blocks from campus on College Avenue, will be broadcasting pre- and post-game shows live from the hotel.
“We are delighted to host a fun few hours of bulldog atmosphere,” said Rick Fine, part-owner of the hotel and CEO of Rialto Property Partners – the Atlanta-based real estate development company that built Hotel Indigo.
The first hour of the four-hour pre-game show, “Bulldog Game Day,” will broadcast live from inside the lobby of the hotel. After the first hour, the show will continue to broadcast live from outside gate 10 in the Tate Student Center parking lot.
The two-hour post-game show will begin with 30 minutes of interviewing players and coaches before being sent back live to Hotel Indigo to recap the game.
During home games, Jeff Dantzler – sports radio host from 960TheRef- will host “Dog Talk” with the help of co-host, former Bulldog place kicker Kevin Butler.
Butler is known for kicking the famous 60-yard field goal that, according to former play-by-play radio announcer Larry Munson, looked to be “a hundred thousand miles” to beat Clemson 26-23 in 1984.
Jeff Dantzler will also host shows for away games, but former Bulldog quarterback, David Greene – who helped deliver a Southeastern Conference championship in 2002 – will handle the co-hosting responsibilities.
“[Hotel Indigo] wanted to get their message out to the Bulldog nation that they are here, and what better way to do that than the Georgia Bulldog Radio Network,” said Jeff Huffman, the general manager of Georgia Sports Properties.
According to the University’s Athletic Association’s Web site, Georgia Sports Properties is the marketing rights partner of the UGA Athletic Association and manages all corporate sponsorship opportunities surrounding the Bulldogs, including on-premise signage, print, Internet, game sponsorships, premium hospitality, event marketing and promotions.
Hotel Indigo Athens will also host two other radio shows.
According to Huffman, on Mondays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., Scott Howard will host “The Bulldog Hotline” live from the hotel. The first hour the phones will be open to callers for Q&A with Georgia Football Coach Mark Richt during football season, and Georgia Basketball Coach Mark Fox during basketball season.
The remaining hour will serve as time to introduce various guests on the show.
Each Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon, the Georgia Bulldog Radio Network will broadcast “Bulldog Brunch” live from the hotel with hosts Jeff Dantzler and Kevin Butler to give a complete game summary and look ahead to the following week.
